Cross National Cup - CNC

2023

  • There have been very positive murmurs on the grapevine that Australia will be able to host the 2023 CNC. As the committee are updated they will advise clubs, members and the wider W.E. Community

What is the CNC?

The Cross-National Camp and Cup was initially held in 2018. The event was created to celebrate and foster international friendships and collaboration between people who share a love of working equitation. The first CNC was held in Oregon, USA in July of 2018. The second CNC took place in Alberta, Canada in August of 2019. The third CNC scheduled for 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic closing the Australian borders. The thirds CNC is being held on July 9 to 17 2022, Missoula, Montana USA. The WEDU Commitee are hoping to host the 2023 CNC at a venue in New South Wales, Australia.

The week long event starts with 3 day camp providing instruction and educational experiences all related to W.E.. Coaches and judges are brought in from around Australia and overseas to share their knowledge and expertise. This is followed by a four phase competition held at the end of the week to put in to practice everything learned during the camp.

Participants from all nations are welcome, and organizers work to locate "loaner horses" and host families to welcome the international visitors for the event. Many volunteers are needed to run this event and to welcome our international visitors. If you would like to volunteer please contact the WEDU Inc. Committee via email, wedui@outlook.com.au.

Julie Alonzo one of the founding organisers of this event explains the philosophy behind the CNC -

"One thing to keep in mind is that the CNC, by intentional design, is more about international relationships and building bridges between people from different areas of the world who share a common love of horses than it is about a competition.
This is why we have specifically chosen NOT to structure it as a Championship, but rather to put the focus on the camaraderie, fun, and true spirit of the sport that brings so many people to WE.
Championships have their place, for sure, but they have a different purpose and focus. The CNC is all about sportsmanship, horsemanship, supporting one another, sharing ideas and cultures, and having fun while doing so."
